Contaminated water is the major cause of preventable illness and death in the developing world.   Dr. McDonald has developed a simple to construct, low cost water purification unit Aqua Clara (Clear Water) which converts raw sewage to safe drinking water meeting WHO standards.

Pilot projects in Kenya, Nicaragua and Mexico have demonstrated the feasibility of its local production and use by low income families in a variety of cultures.
